Weapons and armour

The trade-offs behind each weapon and armour type: what you give up for a shield, and which armour loses to magic.

Every weapon and armour line in Silkroad is a trade, and the trades are consistent enough to reason about before you commit a build to one.

Chinese weapons

Swords and blades
Less raw attack than a spear, but one-handed, so you keep a shield, and the defence that comes with it.
Spears and glaives
Two-handed, so no shield and less defence, in exchange for the strongest attack of the three.
Bows
Two-handed, and the range is the point: reach can decide a fight that attack power alone would not.

Chinese armour

Armor
The most physical protection, and correspondingly weak to magic.
Protector
Average physical protection with no particular strength and no particular weakness: the type that fights anything.
Garment
Heavy magic protection that blunts casters, at the cost of leaving you exposed to physical damage.
