Items and gear

Item classes, degrees and seals

White, blue and yellow items, what a degree is, and why everything worth having above degree 10 is called a Nova seal.

Silkroad sorts gear on two axes at once: how good the base item is, and how far it has been pushed since. Reading a tooltip means reading both.

The classes

Standard, white
The baseline. Sold in shops and dropped by monsters, and a dropped one is sometimes better than a bought one.
Magic, blue
A standard item that came with special abilities attached. The abilities work simply by wearing it.
Rare, yellow
Exceptional for its required level, and able to gain magic properties on top. This is the class everything desirable sits in.
Set items
Armour or accessories sharing a name. Wearing more pieces of the same set grants more bonuses: the set name is one of the green lines on a tooltip.

Degrees and seals

Degree is the tier of the base item, and it climbs as the level cap does. Two things change once you reach degree 11: rare items are all called Nova seals, and the standard items are merged into a single class rather than being split up.

Sealed gear is the overwhelming majority of what serious characters wear: across the characters our roster reads, Nova is the most common seal in the game.
